Competition Terms & Conditions for the Middle East Talents Awards 2014

 

1. Introduction

  • META, the Middle East Talents Awards, is conducting an online digital art competition known as "Middle East Talents Awards".
  • META is a non-profit competition and aims to create a platform where artists and professional companies can meet together and explore opportunities. The awards are purely educational and are aimed at targeting the next generation of industry professionals.
  • Participation in the Competition is subject to the following terms and conditions (the Rules). By entering into the Competition you agree to be bound by these Rules. If the contestant does not accept the Rules, he/she should immediately withdraw from the Competition.
  • By entering into the Competition you are agreeing to the Rules and the contestant agrees to comply with the YouTube or Vimeo Terms of Use and Guidelines.

2. Eligibility

  • The contest is open to young students and professionals who are located in Middle East or are interested in career in Middle East. For the video entries, the entrant should have a registered YouTube or Vimeo Account.

 

3. Submission Guidelines

  • The still images submitted onlinemust be with max resolution 1280 x 800 and no bigger than 500Mb. Every applicant may submit multiple still artworks, but no more than 2 artworks per category. Every submitted artwork should be also sent by email to info@metalentsawards.com in a resolution no less than 2400 x 1800 (portrait or landscape). The winners will be required to submit a larger version of their images no less than 3000 x 2000 (Please do not resize to achieve this minimum).
  • The video submissions can be done through Youtube or Vimeo links.
  • Work must be the contestant's own original material.
  • All winners are required to write ‘making of’ articles to be eligible for prizes and they will be featured along with an interview on CGrecord.
  • Video entries must comply with the YouTube or Vimeo Terms of Service and Guidelines. Entries which don't comply will be disqualified.
  • The contestant must complete the online entry form on the META Website (see link http://metalentsawards.com/en/contest/join). To be able to apply an artwork, every contestant must create his META profile first, which requires registering the contact details, the type of artwork and its title. Entries submitted without an online application will be disqualified.
  • By uploading still artwork(s) and video link(s) via the online entry form, the contestant grants META a perpetual, non-exclusive and payment-free licence globally to: 1. reproduce, use and exploit the intellectual property, to the full extent permitted by intellectual property law in any jurisdiction in which the YouTube or Vimeo channel is available to users. 2. Reproduce, adapt, edit and publish the still image(s) and video(s) in any associated promotional material, posters, advertising, social media etc. including the META website and META sponsors' websites, without limitation.
  • In the event that an award winner is subsequently found in breach of the terms and conditions of entry, their work may be ruled invalid and the award deemed null and void. In that case the entrant must return the prize received.
  • META reserves the right at all times to determine whether an entry qualifies is suitable for consideration. Rude, defamatory, racist or offensive material will be disqualified and will not appear on the website. The decision of what is considered rude and/or offensive material will be at the discretion of the judging panel and competition organisers.
  • Entries which are in breach of Copyright laws and guidelines contained within YouTube's or Vimeo's Terms and Conditions will be disqualified, e.g. videos containing commercial music without licensing approval by the artist or the artists distributer or label.
  • Employees of the organizers, sponsors, its subsidiaries, independent reseller partners, or any company involved in the Competition or any such party’s subsidiary or associated companies, agents or any such person’s family members or households, can not participate and can not be eligible for prizes.

 

4. Technical Criteria

  • Your Entry must be in a format accepted by YouTube or Vimeo
  • Still images submitted online must be with maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 and should not exceed 500 Mb as size. 5. Judging Panel & Prizes

  • The Judging Panel consists of Industry Leaders, sponsoring the META Awards. List of judges is available at http://metalentsawards.com/judges
  • The Judging Panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into relating to the judging process or the outcome.
  • Category winners will receive each a statuette designed especially for the awards as well as prizes given by the sponsors in several of the categories. There will also be a special award for the most voted artwork. Awards are announced at http://metalentsawards.com/winners
  • The most voted artwork is based on the rating system of the META Awards website and is independent award from the judges' votes.
  • Contestant can win a category and a most voted artwork award simultaneously.

 

6. Competition States

  • Deadline for entries is 31 March 2014.
  • The winners will be announced on 1st of May 2014.

 

7. General Terms

  • These terms and conditions may be amended, deleted or added to from time to time at the discretion of the competition organisers. Any revised terms and conditions will be published on the META website in a timely manner. By uploading and submitting a still image or a video link via the online entry form, the contestant agrees to the full terms and conditions - so please read them carefully.
  • All submissions will be shortlisted and judged on their creativity and how effectively they communicate their message.

 

8. Indemnity

  • META and its respective sponsors, their officers, employees and agents have no liability for any costs, losses or damages of any kind, which you may incur, arising whether directly or indirectly. This applies in relation to or in connection with any material and/or information supplied by the contestant in connection with the competition; and as a consequence of removing any material and/or information from the competition.
  • The contestant will at all times indemnify and keep indemnified META and its respective sponsors, their officers, employees and agents (in this paragraph referred to as "those indemnified") from and against any loss (including reasonable legal costs and expenses) or liability incurred by any of those indemnified arising from any claim, demand, suit, action or proceeding by any person against any of those indemnified where such loss or liability arose out of, in connection with or in respect of any breach of these terms and conditions by the contestant; and publication of or distribution of the material and/or information supplied by the contestant.
  • YouTube and Vimeo are not sponsors or associates of the META Awards. By entering or participating in this competition, the contestant agrees to release YouTube and Vimeo from any liability associated with the META 2014.
