Shamim Reza – Winner in META Motivational Still

Artists from different parts of the world have been given recognition to the recent Middle East Talents Awards. Our team had seen exceptional work of art from all the digital artists – artworks that illustrate brilliant talents of digital artists.

An artist from Bangladesh named Shamim Reza was given an award for his piece “Flowing Mind” under the category Motivational still. Here’s the link: http://metalentsawards.com/en/contest/view/822. Here’s our short interview with the artist himself:

1. What is your inspiration to make the winning piece?

It was a random thought, suddenly came in my mind. Started with a quick sketch and was very excited with the entire process.”

2. Share some experiences during the making of your artwork.

The making was quite challenging. To achieve the expression of the figures, I decided to use a combination of sculpting and simulation both. For sculpting it was definitely Zbrush and real flow was used for liquid simulation. There were many different simulations to tackle technical difficulties as there were millions of particles and a huge amount of mesh. At the end all the meshes were resculpted, remeshed and decimated in Zbrush and was rendered with V-Ray. The huge mesh with transparency, refraction and reflection in a multiple light system was also a difficult thing, but thanks to V-Ray for the ability.”

3. What is the best digital art that you have done apart from the winning artwork in META that you want to share to the digital artist community?

Another two pieces were my favorites. The “Caricature of Neymar” and “Great power, great responsibility” a redesign of Spiderman which you can find below.”

4. Please share short message to the young artists who want to pursue their dreams in digital arts.

For young artists I just want to mention two things:

  1. Do only what really inspire you.
  2. Be updated about software even those which you never use.

And at last I really thank META for this award and opportunity.”

Shamim has presented 2 artworks in META apart from his winning piece. Here’s the link for the artist portfolio including his creations: http://metalentsawards.com/en/index/author/493.
